Need an update on collaboration and omniplan integration Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Hi there,

I am a long time omnifocus and omniplan user. However there are some very tempting alternatives developing, such as asana, producteev, wunderkit and getflow. As i work with an international team with teammembers using both mac and pc, i need to know when you will make team collaboration and omniplan integration available for omnifocus. As it stands right now it seems that you are developing too slowly and aren't keeping us up to date about whats in the pipeline and when we can expect certain features....

I am about to switch to wunderkit (when ready) or getflow really soon now and you know that once people switch it is hard to get the, back....

Please give me an update.

Thanks,
Haye

"As i work with an international team with teammembers using both mac and pc, i need to know when you will make team collaboration and omniplan integration available for omnifocus."

Ditto.

Manually putting in data only once and having it flow from there is really a big deal with me. The whole Mindmap > CRM > Project Management > Invoicing workflow that is shared by so many in today's economy is really lacking in the Mac space.

May I offer up my encouragement to the OmniGroup folks to step up your game? And offering this question here is a compliment to you guys who are among the Mac OS app developing community. Somebody has to save us from the lack of collaboration flow and walled garden options available elsewhere.

The world is moving faster and faster. We look to the OmniGroup to keep us ahead of the rest...

There's definitely a lot of demand for this, and we like shipping things that people want. :-)

We try to be as open as we can possibly be, but sometimes that means saying "We know we're going to do it, but we don't yet know when it'll be ready."

Once we do know more, we'll definitely say something.

Before we reach that point, though, predictions and estimates seem to have a pretty significant downside. Inevitably, someone interprets them as a promise and is upset if reality doesn't match what they heard or think they heard. It's tough.

I like to echo the requests for more info and some kind of vision statement about Omnifocus and Omniplan. I too work with international based teams. I understand that making detailed announcements are difficult, although I like to see your commitment reflected in a promise. However, I think it would be good if you would make a clear vision statement for each of your products. A vision statement would have a commitment date and some notion of what we may expect. You could say, we are committed to releasing a cloud based version of Omnifocus by Summer 2012 that would involve the ability for project members to follow you and interact with your projects. Our vision of success is to make the best Project management Grade software that works both off-line and online using the most modern cloud based technologies.

I would also request more regular updates on your blog. Once a week would be helpful. I too am a bit disappointed about your speed of updates for omnifocus and quality of information to your (loyal) users.

im just looking at trying to deploy Omnifocus and the rest of the family to all of my office having finally sorted out making omnifocus and outliner reaaly work for me.

Ive just realised that i can really share unless i give them access to my complete database which i dont want to do.

it is possible to help with a suggested work around for this until it is sorted properly ?

I've been using Omnifocus since it was released (and kinkless before that) and have invested in the Mac, iPhone, and iPad versions. But lately I find myself looking around for other options, because so much of my work is collaborative, and I need a better way to share projects and see what colleagues are doing.

I haven't found a cloud-based solution that I like as well as Omnifocus for managing my individual tasks, but that hasn't stopped me from moving some projects online. Of course, that undermines the value of a having single inbox and being able to review all my project, so I need to find a better solution soon.

The difficult part about this equation is "will your family and office be willing to use OmniFocus and GTD?"

Everyone will have their own system to cope with their responsibilities and tasks. Some folks are happy with their Franklin-Covey day planner. Others may subscribe to another management system such as Do-It-Tomorrow or AutoFocus. Not everyone likes or needs OmniFocus (we certainly know better!).

If your family/coworkers could care less about GTD and/or OmniFocus. We could try preaching and evangelizing but it may fall upon deaf ears.

Probably the lowest common denominator would be to e-mail tasks then create a new start date to remind yourself to follow up on someone else's progress.

In a perfect world, we'd all be using OmniFocus and GTD but that ain't gonna happen....

I'd be really interested to see what Omni Group come up with in this space.

I'm using OmniFocus across the Mac, iPad and iPhone and rely on it to manage my workflow on a daily basis.

Expanding this solution to encompass a collaborative team approach with tighter OmniPlan integration is a huge opportunity for Omni Group IMO. Particularly with Apple technology making significant inroads into the corporate environment.

I'm sure, if OG are pursuing this, they'll absolutely nail it. Based on the quality of their existing products, it will be a top class solution.

Economy really could have been better. It's just pleasing to know that omni is growing faster than the economy itself.

Well, instead of waiting for OmniPlan <-> OmniFocus integration, we have to get something done today!

At the moment, I'm using Asana for teamwork collaboration and then using OmniFocus for my personal tasks that doesn't need to be shared with everyone else.

When OmniPlan <-> OmniFocus plans become more crystallized, I'll look into it. Otherwise I have to get things done...
