Stupid Newbie Question: Automatically resizing shapes and text Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Hi, I'm new here. I'm sure this is a silly obvious question, but I did read the help, and I can't get it to work.

I want to create a flow chart that fits on one page, and text that automatically fits in the shapes. It keeps throwing the text out of the shapes (or hiding it), and then throwing the graph off of the side of the page. I was able to stop it from creating a second page, but I can't create things all on one.

If making things fit means auto adjusting font sizes then that's fine too.

Hello Turtleboy

It would be helpful if you could share an example file. I think a couple things are happening

1. Sounds like you might be creating shape objects AND text objects. you can add text within a shape by just double clicking on it. That way the text will stay with the shape.

2. Also sounds like you have "Automatic Layout" on (In the Canvas-> Alignment inspector) and that is causing things to resize and move around. If you like what it is doing (but it jumps off the page), you can select all and manually move it onto the single page when you are ready. If you don't like it, you can turn it off and manually position elements.
