Compatibility with Safari's plug-ins Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I think to make Omniweb compatible with Safari's plug-ins could improve it quite a lot !
Also it would be easier to add new functions.
Especially with the OW's plug-in manager that allow to enable/disable the use of any plug-ins, very convenient !

There is one slight problem - there aren't any Safari plug-ins as there is no Safari API for them. What you have instead is a series of system hacks that can be broken by any system update (and frequently are or have been... e.g. Saft). OmniGroup would be wasting their time adding support for such hacks when Apple will break them in the future.

Plus,

With Leopard, they're removing InputManagers aren't they? Have these developers come up with a way to use things like Saft etc... with Leopard yet?

I am not a developer but remember reading something about this a few months ago.

Cheers,

Yes, actually InputManagers should be removed, but as far as I know, this isn't totally clear for know. It's about security and integrity.
But there will be another alternative.

Keep in mind, I'm neither a developer. ;)

Best,

Marcus
