How is the Inbox meant to be used? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Maybe I understood GTD wrong, but I thought the Inbox should be a bunch of vague ideas that haven't been developed into actionable tasks (clear action) or a setup of tasks - a project. But at the moment I seem to have to be using it for a combination of "idea" tasks like "Whack Gentoo on the server" and tasks without a project like "Purchase cd by <x>"

Is there no other way to have project-less tasks? I find my Inbox cluttered now... Oh also, any tasks I mark as completed in the Inbox still appear when my filter is set to "remaining" which is a real pain, and I can see that really being a problem when I have more tasks like this added...
I have a project called !single tasks - the exclamation mark makes it appear at the top of the projects list. i just transfer tasks which don't need their own project here. i'd like to take credit for this stroke of genius, but it was something in Ethan Schoonover's kGTD,your last point about 'completed' tasks still showing up when marked completed sounds like a bug, maybe you should report it to the ninjas.

Did you know you can manually reorder projects? The easiest way might be to hit Ctrl-Command-up or -down when the project name is selected. My "singletons" (pseudo-)project is at the top of my projects list, no exclamation point needed.
Even easier than a three-key chord: u for up and d for down
