possible to save .ofocus file NOT in osx library? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
hi,

I would like to keep that main work file on a separate partition, can that be done?

I know I can have the manual backup put where ever I want, but specifically I would like the main .ofocus file.

thanks

What are you trying to accomplish here? It's not just the database that gets stored in your Library folders.

You could probably migrate the OmniFocus directory out of ~/Library/Application Support by using a symlink, but I haven't tried it. If you have a really pressing need to do this, you should ask Omni for some guidance, but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't want to support it.

hi Palmer,

I want to keep omni (the main data file) on an encrypted partition,
but the encryption program (truecrypt) doesn't support mac osx, so it must just be a data partition or file.

I did install the omni app on the encrypted partition, but it still saves to the osx library.

Why not use the Mac's built-in encryption, FileVault? Then you don't have to worry about whether or not you've relocated all the spots where OmniFocus might write some of your sensitive data. I trust you've also got strong passwords and are using virtual memory encryption?
