Why doesn't OmniWeb show some of Gmail's features? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I noticed while browsing Gmail at work in Internet Explorer, that it had much better shadowing behind the message, and a reply pop-down box. When I got home i tried in OmniWeb but it didn't work. It doesn't seem to work in Safari either, is it a Webkit problem?

It's not a problem, but it would be nice to see this fixed. :)

You can try spoofing as either Safari or Firefox. When you spoof as Firefox, you get A LOT more features, including Google IM, jabber buddy list, etc.

Its a WebKit compatibility problem.

Alternatively, it is a Google compatibility problem with WebKit ;)

When you say incompatiblity problem, do you mean, that Webkit is more standard and that Google uses non standard code?

Yeah, I know what you mean. That said, "Web 2.0" is really pushing browser to support a few new standards. It's nice that some of the big web sites are pushing web standards, rather than the old days of being stuck having to wait for browsers to get better.

I think with Web 2.0 AJAX driven sites, it's mainly JavaScript that's the culprit when the developer talks about browser support.

JavaScript support is very browser specific and since Netscape invented it, Mozilla is the one to support it best supposedly.
