Migrating to a new iPhone Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Hi guys,

I am 100% sure this has been addressed before but I couldn't find a clear answer.

I bought a new iPhone yesterday. What is the simplest, best way to use my OF in my new phone? I have OF for Mac as well and would not like to lose any data.

I thank you in advance.

It's trivial if you're synching. Just install OmniFocus (if you're using iCloud, it will be installed for you when you migrate), and then set up sync. All your data will come down automatically… it's a cinch.

Do note: If you stop using your old phone with OmniFocus, you may want to go to the sync pane in the desktop version and remove the old iPHone from the list of sync clients. Otherwise sync will slow down over time.

This used to be necessary, but is now very, very optional - most folks don't need to do this. If a device remains un-synced for a long period of time, it'll be automatically unregistered. (I believe it's about a month.)

Within a month, with an unsynched device, it's possible to have 5,000 zip files. Will that slow things down over, say, 3 zip files?

My experience shows that it does, markedly, when the number of zip files is over 150 or so.
