Is it possible to sum numbers in columns? If so, how?

Tap the OMNI button in the document chooser. Have a look at the The Columns Tool page in the OmniOutliner Help, specifically the part dealing with summaries. You've got to group all of the items you want summed together, and the total will appear on the parent's row.
