Is there a way to have the length/dimensions of an line/object displayed as the object text? For instance a line that is 4" would have that value displayed as the text for the line.

Make a line label for the line, and insert the following text: <%Length%>, or insert it from the Edit Menu -> Insert Variable submenu.
There are also variables for Height and Width, as an FYI. Hope that helps,

If you do a lot of this, making a stencil of your commonly objects with measurement variables already attached is probably worthwhile.
