similar to oo for pc Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Hey folks,

I am a huge oo fan on the mac os x - however, at times i must use the dreaded pc and was wondering if anyhow knew of a program that took notes in OPML format on a PC that then I could bring back into oo on the mac platform.

thanks!

when i have to use my Dell at work (which i loathe, but i have no choice when i leave my laptop at home) - i find i can get along ok with MS Word's outliner- i find it does a lot of what OO's outlining functions provide - only in this incredibly ugly depressing way. i've never tried to re-import into OO, but it shouldn't be too difficult.

if you have 'inspiration' - the mind-mapping / diagramming software, that has a pretty good outlining side (not as slick / beauteous as OO, but good) which easily opens in OO (on the mac, anyway) you could try that. there is a windows version i believe.

You'll want Ecco Pro. It's been unsupported for over a decade but it still works great and actually has features OO doesn't yet have, such as keeping more than one document file open at a time, and the ability to filter a view based on column data. I have no doubt OO will catch up and exceed it - hopefully in 4.0 - but Ecco is so great it kept me from switching from PC to Mac for far too long. It is the only thing I truly miss.

Say what? Every time I fire up OO I see a whole bunch of different documents...

But each file is in a different window. One Ecco window had tabs (long before browsers did) to keep several separate files open in one window.

bonsai is an awesome pc outliner. there are many; i doubt it will be hard to find something which works for you
