Does anyone know how to draw an Cisco WAN link? For those who perhaps are not familiar, it's the lightning bolt links as seen here. I did find this great set of Cisco stencils, but unfortunately it doesn't have a WAN link symbol. I've tried all kinds of tricks, bu I'm at a loss. How to make a WAN link? Thanks for your help.

As far as I can tell, people have been asking for this since 2004, but nobody has delivered. How OmniGraffle can position itself as a serious alternative to Visio for network diagrams is beyond me when they lack even this basic function. The lightning bolt as WAN link is one of the most universal symbols of network diagrams. I've been evaluating OG as an alternative for Visio and I have given up hope based on this alone. I spent days trying to get a stupid lightning bolt on a diagram with no luck. I even copied one off an XML Visio diagram, but OG cannot manipulate it properly.

My recommendation if you need a WAN link on your network diagram: use Visio, there is a reason why it is the standard for this sort of thing and OmniGraffle is not.

OmniGraffle 5 comes with a built-in lightning bolt link: in the stencil window, search for the keyword "Bolt".

(This wasn't possible in OmniGraffle 4 because it didn't support connecting shapes.)

And if anyone needs the lightning bolt to look exactly like the Cisco WAN one, I made a version that's a connecting shape here.
