Row Numbering: Letters & Numbers Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I have intermittently been able to set up Row Numbering like:

A
1
2
3
B
1
1.1
1.2
2
C

That helps minimize 'number clutter', but I can't figure out how to replicate this setting easily and quickly. I've done it several times (globally, not manually), and wonder if there is a quick way to do it?

Most of the time you either accept the same characters as the same in each level except "Legal". Legal has the problem of having LOTS of characters in each sublevel and it is distracting.

It would be nice to be able to automatically do:

A
a
1
AA
aa

or similar to keep the numbering to a minimum number of characters.

This only comes up in larger documents where it is easy to get lost as to where you are adding or changing levels.

Many Thanks

You would have to edit the row level styles for this (they're located in the bottom section of the utility drawer). As far as quickly setting this up for new documents, you could either make a template with these already set up or use an AppleScript that will set them for you.

If you want to edit the default template for this, go to OmniOutliner menu -> Preferences -> General tab -> Edit New Document Template and then set the row numbering for the levels.
