Omnifocus Themes Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Hi,
I discovered this morning the ability to load/save themes for OmniFocus ('Style' pane of the Preferences). I don't know since when this has been available, but whatever, the thing is great. I'm with no doubt part of those people claiming that Omnifocus is brilliant but could do some effort on UI.
No doubt that theming is a first step to a better UI design (although theming in essence doesn't effect design).

Along with the above considerations, I have a question regarding themes:

Does a repository for themes exist at the OmniGroup, or somewhere else over the net? I'd love to see what omni did, and compare it to user-defined themes.
Even better : are some themes already available in the app's bundle?

There are still some theme issues we're sorting out.

But I know that I and some others at Omni have been playing around with the typography, and I think we even changed some of the defaults pretty recently.

At this time we don't plan to include any themes in the bundle. We'd much rather make sure that the defaults work well for the majority of folks.

This theme idea may solve the 3x5 card printing and data-density problem that has compeletly frustrated me with Omnifocus. It would be nice to save the column spacing as well so that we can pack more in during printing.

Now, as long as perspectives can switch themes, I think we're onto a printing solution to 3x5 cards... it would also be nice to group printing out by project only or by context only... i.e., one 3x5 card per project, or one 3x5 card per context (of course these may need to spill onto other cards as well, but should make a "new page" break at the end of their record.)

I have some playing to do to figure this out I guess...

Here's a little typography-based (rather than indentation-based) theme I'm working on for my own use. Please let me know what you think of it.

Wow, trying to load that theme totally sent OF into the weeds! CPU meter is still pinned several minutes later... I'll send in a trace. Oh, and then pressing Reset got the same result, followed by a crash. There might still be some room for optimization here :)

I always have omnifocus open on the laptop while I'm working on the external display and I don't like having a white bright screen on the side so I just made a darker template.

I did it in a couple of minutes and it's not too good so if someone improves it I would appreciate if they post it here.

I have fallen in love with Themes! BUT...I cannot find any way to change the background and text colors in the Quick Entry box. Is there any way to change those?

No, what you see is what you get in Quick Entry. I'd like an option to change this also, as I'd rather see a HUD-style theme for Quick Entry.

And, as usual, use Help → Send Feedback to get a formal feature request into the dev. database.

Here is a theme I've developed over the past few weeks and have been extremely happy with it. I tried many variations with different themes and so many used similar fonts and sizes, making the tasks somewhat run together visually. I tried to create a nice, clean look that's elegant and easy on the eyes. Enjoy!
