Help with stalled/not active Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I need some help

Here's what I need.

I need to create a perspective that only shows active and *not* stalled projects

I can't put a project on hold because even if I add a task...it is still not visible...

So is this possible?

You might have to ask your question again with some more details...what is the problem you are trying to solve?

Setting the Project Filter in the View Bar to Active Projects will show you only active projects, no stalled projects will be shown.

I don't understand the comment about how you can't put a project on hold...

First thanks for the response!

Ok, let me try again. I have at any given time about 100+ projects that are not completed.

I am only actively working on 10 of them

I want those 10 to show up on a list

To do this I put the others "on hold"

Problem is when I add a task from mail to an "on hold" project...it doesnt become active again (and sometimes a bunch of my emails restart projects at the same time). Because of this I am losing tasks (they are there just not visible).

I was trying to use "stalled" instead of "on hold" since the projects take on that status automatically (godsend...almost).

The problem is "stalled" shows up as an "active" project

I was trying to create a list of projects that were both active AND [U]not stalled.

----------

Ok, did I make it more confusing or less???

Got it. My earlier post was incorrect, clearly, as stalled projects do show up in an active project list because they are a special case of active projects.

So how are you going about getting your projects into the stalled state? Putting start dates on the next action? If you do that, and have a sequential project, yes, adding a new action at the end of the list won't help, though it would work with a parallel project because the newly added action wouldn't be blocked by the start date(s) on the other action(s).

My guess is you aren't doing any reviews. I would just put the projects on hold, and take them off hold when I add things to them. Use the review process to make sure you have the right projects active. Doing without the reviews sounds like a recipe for disaster in your setup; file one email in the wrong place and you start work on the wrong project.
