I just tested disabling syncing and quitting, and it's working fine for me, so I think there's something else going on here. Anyone having trouble with this, please use the Feedback item in the Help menu to report it so we can try to see what's going on.

When I look at my sync settings, it claims that I have not yet synced, which isn't true, but if I sync manually I can quit as normal.
I hope this helps.
