Is there any way to change the widths of columns without it changing the right side width of the OmniFocus window?

I'm used to Tables in word where you can hold down <Command> to move a column border without it changing any the total width of the table.

In OmniFocus, it means when I make a column a little wider, I have to readjust the window width.

I totally share your concern! This behavior is rather unintuitive.
