I've been noticing lately that OF will consume upwards of 25% of my CPU for a while. After the fans ramp up and it goes on for a while, I usually quit OF and the problem goes away for a while.

Is this normal? What's OF doing to use so much CPU?

25%? Is that all? I often get 90% or more :-)

There are some things in OmniFocus that seem to be done inefficiently. When you see the CPU utilization go up and stay up, use Activity Monitor to sample the OmniFocus process and send in a report with Help->Send Feedback including the sample(s). Some of the cases got fixed in the 1.9 release, but there were others that were judged too destabilizing to fix right before release, and I doubt they've identified all of the inefficiencies, much less fixed them all. Customer data should help bump up the priority...

Do you typically have more than one OmniFocus window?

I open and close OF windows pretty frequently, but typically don't have more than 2 open at a time. See my post http://forums.omnigroup.com/showthread.php?t=20906 for some insight into my window usage.

Next time the CPU usage spikes, I'll capture some details.
