Which OmniFocus widget do you mean? OmniFidget, the one Omni released, talks to OmniFocus, never directly to the file, so it shouldn't be creating a .lock file. Or do you have a different OmniFocus widget?
Are you moving between networks when you're getting this issue? If so then you are experiencing:
<bug://bugs/41731> (User can't use focus because of lock when moving networks)

After I got the notice from the forum that there was a reply to my post, I waited for it to do it again. It's been a few days now, and nothing. It's working fine again.
Thanks for the advice, though. I'm going to keep it close just in case.
