This whole discussion probably ought to be moved off to the lounge...
Wow. I'm sorry you feel the need to get so defensive. I have no feature requests pending that have been bumped by some other requests, and I have no ulterior motives with this discussion.

Aldaron, apologies if I hi-jacked your thread and turned it into an issue over voting. :o

OK, even though I'm not fussed about getting an optional password-on-launch facility, I can completely understand why other people would want it. IMHO it seems a logical, easy to achieve feature request that if implemented wouldn't be anything other than a positive benefit for all OF users.

Oh... and it would probably take Ken less time to code it in than to read this thread! :p

One team member summarizes the top 10 feature requests. There is a request for X, which has 150 votes. There is a request for Y, which has 250 votes, even though all of the votes are more recent than many of the votes for X, because Y relates to a feature that wasn't even in the product when some of the requests for X arrived. You've only got resources to do X OR Y, not both. Everyone agrees that both are things that would improve the product comparably. Why wouldn't you do the one that more people have felt strongly enough about to request, even if the other one had been around longer? What does it matter that something might have been the top request at some point in the past, if it is no longer?
whpalmer4, respecting Brian's wishes, I'll give my opinion on this in the 'Why Vote?' thread over in the Omni Lounge... !

My kids use my iPad frequently, and I'd like to avoid having them accidentally trashing something. OF is only one of many apps that has valuable info (email would be the top of the list). Password protection would be nice, but it seems like something that should happen at the iOS level (although I see no indication that Apple is moving that way).

On a semi-related note -- is there a list of potential upcoming features? Something where one could click a "yes, this is a priority for me"? I'm very happy with OF, and am confident that Omni will continue to deliver good stuff -- but knowing what's on the horizon would be nice.

We have a database where we keep track of all this stuff, but it's private. Here's a post where I explain some of our thinking. Hope this helps!

If your life is full of such people, I can see how a password might be attractive, as they'll be forced to read your email, snoop in your Dropbox account, read your text messages, etc. instead of looking at your to do list, but maybe you should be finding new friends instead! I'm truly sorry if that last category also covers your family members :-)
No probs. whpalmer4, we can't all be The Waltons. You be grateful now. I'm afraid my lot are truly feral.

I only give my weekend flings a Skype number for calls and texts, as that requires a password to open. I even lock up my browser when I loan my iPad and iPhone to the grandkids in a vain attempt to stop them accessing porn. Oh and a survey in the UK earlier this year stated that over 50% of people admitted snooping on their partner's mobile. I guess Miss Marple has a lot to answer for. :)

If you have any apps that have built-in browsers, the Safari restriction doesn't affect them. Might want to use the Attachments List window on your Mac to see if the grandkids are putting a thumb in your eye and downloading and storing their porn in OmniFocus — I guess that PM you sent me about extracting attachments wasn't really from you :D

So I guess as a responsible adult, well-versed in the depravities of Mountain Lions, you'd recommend that Omni incorporates a child-unfriendly password-on-launch option within OmniFocus then, huh? :D

That's great, but if it's anything like the Child locks on Medicine, Kids will open it easily and us adults will struggle ;-)
