[sneakypeek5] Turning off built-in PDF support Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
How can I turn off the built-in PDF support? I don't like to view PDFs in my web browser; I'd much rather use Preview or Skim. I'd also like to not have to remember to Option-click on everything that links to a PDF. I just want the old behavior of downloading a PDF on a click back.

I haven't found anything in the preferences to do this, but I'm hoping it's possible.

Thanks

Yeah, me too. I forgot how to turn this off.

And you can't search the forum for it since "pdf" is too short a word!!

Can someone please adjust the forum search to allow three-letter words?

I found this somewhere many moons ago:

Not sure if you want a way to turn off displaying PDF documents in OmniWeb completely but if you like you can do so by opening a terminal window and entering this command:

defaults write com.omnigroup.OmniWeb5 WebKitOmitPDFSupport -bool YES

After doing so, restart OmniWeb and PDFs will always download (A preference for this would be handy).

Thanks Jem, that sounds like it's just what I'm looking for.
