I see that mail clipping for OmniFocus clips the text of a specific email to a task. But is there a way of clipping a link to the email thread? Tasks often rely on the whole thread and not just the single instantiating email.

If I clip a thread, the resulting clipping has all of the messages and links to all of the original messages, just like if you select multiple messages and then clip. I don't believe there is a similar external reference mechanism for message threads like there is for single messages.
