In some situations, selecting text with the mouse for copy&paste doesn't produce the result I am looking for.

If you try to select a quote, you aren't able to select the opening '<'. If you select multiple lines, the subsequent '<'s at the beginnings of the lines are highlighted, but won't be copied to the buffer. Moreover, the newlines won't be copied, too.
It works correctly on this site with Opera (didn't test other borwsers). And yes, although Opera perserves the newlines in this example, it won't insert newlines where lines are broken by the browser itself (like on the mentioned page, if a long line by one user is quoted).
