This morning I got a software update notice from OS/X which included a number of updates (one was for new cameras supported in Aperture, another for OS/X, don't recall the third). At any rate, after rebooting, I got a message when iCal was invoked, something about the iCal files being updated. Later, I made a change in OF and tried to sync with iCal. Now I keep getting errors from OF about not being able to sync with iCal.

Well, after about the fifth try to sync with iCal, the problem is resolved - OF finally synced with iCal. Perhaps there was a hiccup in OS/X.
I'll keep this post here, in case others run into this problem.
