Is OGS a good idea for tracking data over time? Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
Hi,

I've just grabbed the OGS trial and it works great for some science projects I'm working on where I import data from CSV, but I haven't worked out how to use it for more day-to-day things. Specifically, I like to track my weight, so I thought I could just enter this in the data inspector. It accepts my enter of weight (60.4), but doesn't seem to accept the datestamp (2010-01-27).

Any ideas? For my CSV data, this works just fine, it seems OGS doesn't like it being entered by hand though.

Unfortunately, OmniGraphSketcher doesn't currently import dates in any format other than plain numbers, and can't use a date-formatted axis scale. Obviously both of these features would be extremely useful and we'll be exploring them for the future.

In the meantime, you can still graph date-based data, but you'll want to convert those dates to elapsed time (probably days or weeks in the case of weight tracking) and then add custom axis labels as necessary.
