Found the answer - simply Reset and all works.

I have what must be a basic issue for something I guess I'm doing wrong - I suppose it's a Preferences or Setup issue....
When I select the rectangle, go to the Drawing area, and then create a rectangle, I don't get one. The result is:
1- My shape has no lines around it
2- The only thing showing is a small shape within the invisible perimeter that looks sort of like a little TV screen.
Attached is a screen shot of two images. One has just been added and the other is the resulting "little TV" that results once I click out of the rectangle.
