wow - this thread looks great - I've been wanting a report of completed items each week (a la weekly review)
Has anyone canned useful reports/perspectives esp ones for fellow GTD nuts? I'm not familiar enough with perspectives to know if they are "portable" per se...

If by portable you mean can you use a perspective file I create on my machine with my database on your machine with yours, no, it won't work in all circumstances. It might work for perspectives that don't have sidebar selections or any other references to your data.
Easier to just take a screenshot of the perspectives window, I think!
