Omni Memory Hog Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
As much as I like Omni web overall, perhaps the biggest problem I have with it is sheer memory usage. On just a regular day of light usage, she can run up about 350 megs of real memory and 2+ Gigs of virtual memory, waaaaay more than any other app I've got running. Is this just a fact of life I will have to live with, or might there be something I can do to somehow reduce OW's memory usage? Is there some common mistake I'm making? I hope that whenever version 6 comes out, this issue will be taken care of. Even Firefox, infamous for its memory usage, takes up a fraction the resources that OW does when running full-steam. Thanks.
I'm sure it's a webkit problem. On my Mac both Omniweb and Safari take up insane amounts of ram after having been open for a while. The main reason why I'm using Camino now - rarely uses more than 70 - 80 mb here (still way to much for a browser, I think, but there you go)
