any suggestions for how to deal with phone calls that need to be made or returned?

I've started out with a project "return calls", default context "phone" and a due date of now so that this project is essentially always overdue; if there were a way to have automatic resets to a particular time each day for doing calls that would be great, but i can't figure that out yet.

The problem with this is that right now I have three calls as actions within the project itself, all are due, so there is a number 4 to the left of this project, in red, indicating four items are due. But there are three actions, not four. If I check off all three calls, there is still a 1 in red next to the project, presumably for the project itself. In this instance I don't want the project counted...

Anyway, looking for a better way to manage phone calls.
 
Instead of a special phone call project, I'd keep the phone calls in the project to which they're related. You can use a context of "return calls" (rather than a context of "phone") if you want to distinguish it from other calls you might make (originating calls rather than returning them).

You can also put a due date on the calls instead of the project, which eliminates the "extra" due item.

An aside: due dates are generally best when they're really due on a particular date. If you're just using them to prod you into doing something, you're likely to experience stress if you don't do it by that date.

Finally, if you keep a special "return calls" project, you should at least turn it into a "single actions" type project so all the calls are available to you and not just the one that's at the top (unless you only ever call straight down your list, and only want to see one call at a time).
