For "basic application" questions, I'd recommend reading/posting in the "Applying OmniFocus" forum (http://forums.omnigroup.com/forumdisplay.php?f=51). There's some great info in there. You might even just start a "basics of GTD" thread -- I'm sure you'll get some great help from the other posters.

If you aren't able to find the answers you need there, I'd be happy to answer a few of your GTD questions. I don't consider myself an expert, per se, but I've read the book several times, the concepts seem very clear to me, and I've been able to apply many of them in my life, even before I started using OF. Once you understand the concepts of GTD and how it works, it then becomes much easier to apply/use those concepts, whether you're using software like OmniFocus or just using plain paper.

If you do have questions for me, its probably best if you send me a private message (this thread is about organizing a gathering & isn't a good place for general GTD questions). If you have questions about specific things David Allen talks about in his book, please include a page number so I know which part you're referring to.

Ladies & Gents - did we confirm any bay area group meetings for 4Q yet? any thoughts?

also - from the last meeting, someone brought a tool that showed how you can have OF sync to another server/program to collaborate with team members. What was the name of that program / set up? we're thinking about doing GTD / OF company wide.

Previously, we've met at Great Bear Coffee & Café in Los Gatos. It's a low key spot in a cozy downtown area next to an Apple Store. However, it does not offer any kind of projector or much in the way of peace and quiet. :-)

If you've got a better idea for a venue, post a link or street address here and we'll talk it over.

I don't want to take anything away from the developer at Spootnik— he is performing a cool function for a niche market

1) I got tired of paying for basecamp and the fees of spootnik to sync.
2) When I was using spootnik, the note field didn't sync. I use this field heavily and I lost a lot of functionality when it didn't sync.
3) I was alone on my team in trying to understand how everything was working (or not working) and I got tired of fiddling/worrying that everything was doing what it needed to be doing.

I'm pretty sure I can make Nov 12th. I can probably get a hold of a projector, too. I'll try & think if there's a nearby location that would provide a bit more quiet. Otherwise Great Bear works for me.

Awh man.. is that Nov12 set in stone? Im a huge 9ers fan, and the 9ers have a thursday night game that night and are planning to watch with friends. Can we push it back a week to the following Thursday, Nov 19th?

Re: location. I can volunteer my office for the gathering. this way we'll have a quiet place to meet, and we can use the projector. our office is located right off of Bowers/Great America Pkwy & HWY 101 in santa clara.
