A feature I would love to see implemented into Omni Focus is an alert message like iCal does when things are about to be due or overdue. Either that, or the ability to add alerts to iCal so that we can get alerts from there instead.

The functionality is already there. You need to install Growl (http://growl.info) and then OF will pop up floating asynchronous notifications on your screen of things becoming available or due. Better yet, the notifications are linked back to the actions/projects, so you can click on the purple folder and go directly to the item in question in OmniFocus. Give it a try, and report back if you need more assistance...

Agree with whpalmer. I have Growl and it works a treat with OF.

do you have to have omnifocus running to get this benefit? i just wasnt sure if it was required...
