Rather than dragging tasks, you could use the 'Reschedule' toolbar button. This finds all tasks that are incomplete and in the past and moves them to today (or whatever date you specify).

If that's what you mean - it wouldn't be very helpful for me unless there's an option to have the default event start date dynamically change to = today so that we don't have to change the default start date every day. For me, the idea isn't to have all tasks start on a specific date but to have all tasks default to the day you enter them in.
