Data integrity test :) Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes
I am currently evaluating if OF is the right tool for my company.
Today I decided to a test to see if I could recover my data after a database reset.
Software used: desktop OmniFocus/1.5/rc2-v77.13.2 iPhone: OF 1.1

I reset the iPhone OF database.

I tried to synchronize and got the "No root can reach all tail transactions"
(Not knowing of the script solution yet) I deleted the iPhone OF and reinstalled it.
Tried to synchronise but got several errors.
Went to OF desktop prefs and reentered the sync setting (Bonjour).
Reentered the iPhone OF sync settings.

Synched desktop OF
Synched iPhone OF

Lo and behold: all my projects, contexts and task are back!

Only two little problems:
1. If I create a task on the iPhone and I synchronise from the iPhone the new task will not automatically appear in OF desktop. I have to synch from OF desktop as well.

Before my test only one synch was necessary: pushing the iPhone synch button immediately updated OF desktop.

2. Completed tasks do not hide anymore in OF desktop.

Anybody else has tried this? Did you have similar experiences?

2. Was resolved by going to Default View

1. Suddenly resolved itself, weird.

Anyway: it looks like I can trust OF with my company ToDo's :)

1. This is completely expected behavior. You are not syncing the iPhone to the desktop's live database, but to a central sync database, which the desktop then needs to sync to. If you are using bonjour syncing, the iPhone will sync and then suggest to the desktop that it should also sync. If you're using some other form of syncing, the desktop will just sync periodically without prompting.
