I'd like to export information to be able to submit to others in a text form (with tabs or whatnot between columns). I tried select all of a focused project, copied, and pasted, but the column data (e.g., the time value) does not come across.

You or anyone else could take the basis of my export to iPod script and convert it to export to a file. Shouldn't be to hard.
