Just wondering if the iPhone app will continue performing a sync if it shuts off due to auto settings? Or will it restart/resume after power on? Just wondering if I need to keep tapping the screen on a long sync to keep the power on. I've noticed some apps (if they were open before power off (Twinkle for example), continue to receive messages when the power shuts off.

Thanks in advance,
Marc

If a sync is in-progress when the phone "sleeps", it should continue.

Meaning when it's powered back on, it will continue, or while the phone is sleeping, it will continue to run? (See my post above regarding the iPhone app Twinkle.

As long as the OF application is active when the iPhone sleeps... it appears to be syncing. I check this by going to my sync clients in the OF app.

I think the application will start a sync when it is locked. You'll need to let it sit for an hour to see if this is true.

I just tested this. My iPhone was in the cradle, with the auto lock on.
I checked the client status in OF desktop, and the iPhone synced!

Yes, when the screen is off the active application still runs regardless of which application it is. Therefore, OmniFocus syncs.

You'll want to be cautious of this with regards to battery life, since leaving certain apps running, even with the screen off, can have a serious drain on your battery. OF syncing hourly shouldn't be that big of a deal, but other apps such as the Camera app, will kill the battery noticeably faster if left running (since the Camera circuitry remains "active").
