When in the history view, command-f should put the cursor in the find box and not open a find window which is of no use in this view anyway.

Hitting command+f brings up the Find dialog which searches the text on the screen. It does indeed have a use. This only searches the page titles. The find box does other searches as well.

It may have a use but it does not work in the way you describe within the history view.

I assume you have the list area of the window in focus when you try?
