I know that if theres a selected group of projects, you can't sync that type of perspectives. Just wondering what are the current limitations.

Only context-mode perspectives sync to iOS. Project-mode perspectives do not sync.

Actually, they do sync, but the app doesn't use them. Usually the distinction isn't important, but your entire database is synced to every device, which allows any copy to regenerate your system if necessary.

Grouping behavior is different — iOS version only does single-day groups, unlike theMac which uses bigger groups as you go away from the current date.

I only use project perspectives. Since they don't sync to the iPhone, Omnifocus on the iPhone is useless to me. Is there no hope that this will change?

"No use." LOL. Nothing else of value at all ;-)

That said, sure I'm sure you'll be able to use project-mode perspectives at some point. Based on current progress, my best guess is sometime before 2017.
